Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Wicknell Chivayo and Pedza \u201cScott\u201d Sakupwanya have jointly donated US$250,000 to the Zimbabwe national football team, the Warriors, in recognition of their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.<\/p>\n

Chivayo is a highly controversial figure known for his lucrative business dealings\u2014largely through state tenders and contracts.<\/p>\n

Sakupwanya, also a polarising figure, is a prominent gold dealer, owner of the Scottland Football Club, and a Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

His political career has been marked by controversy, including winning a seat unopposed after the CCC candidate was disqualified by the courts just hours before a by-election.<\/p>\n

In a post on his social media pages this Tuesday, Chivayo announced that the donation would be officially handed over to the Warriors next week, once he returns from France. He wrote:
\nIn line with the President\u2019s mantra of \u201cLEAVING NO ONE AND NO PLACE BEHIND\u201d and in unwavering support of local sports, HON. SCOTT SAKUPWANYA and I are proud to announce a small donation of USD250,000 to the Warriors.<\/p>\n

This gesture serves as a token of appreciation for their exceptional achievement in raising Zimbabwe\u2019s flag high on the continental stage.<\/p>\n

Upon our return from Paris next week and after all required protocols have been observed through the MINISTRY OF SPORTS, we will officially hand over this contribution for the team\u2019s collective benefit.<\/p>\n

We applaud the SECOND REPUBLIC for its steadfast commitment to sports development and its recognition of excellence in Zimbabwe\u2019s athletes.<\/p>\n

The government\u2019s support has been instrumental in the WARRIORS\u2019 SUCCESS and continues to pave the way for further progress in the sporting arena.<\/p>\n
