Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A 23-year-old Mutare man has been locked up on allegations of raping his daughter who is barely two years old.<\/p>\n

The man whose identity is being withheld to protect the victim has appeared before a Mutare magistrate who remanded him in custody.<\/p>\n

His trial is expected to commence on January 3 next year.<\/p>\n

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the man took advantage of his wife\u2019s absence to abuse his daughter.<\/p>\n

The court heard the baby was lying in their house while the mother was fetching water from the nearby borehole.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe accused, who is the biological father of the complainant, allegedly committed the heinous act on the 17th of December 2024 while the child\u2019s mother was away fetching water from a nearby borehole.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state is alleging that the accused entered the house and proceeded to where the infant was sleeping and removed her diaper before raping her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe infant\u2019s mother returned from the borehole and encountered the accused person by the door, pulling up his trousers.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe went to where the complainant was lying down, crying, and discovered that her diaper had been removed,\u201d the court heard.<\/p>\n

The mother noticed that the complainant was bleeding from her vagina and that there was semen below her navel.<\/p>\n

The mother rushed outside to confront the accused person, but he had already fled the scene.<\/p>\n
