{"id":1069,"date":"2019-01-05T17:07:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-05T17:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=1069"},"modified":"2019-01-05T17:08:13","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T17:08:13","slug":"remain-resilient-sibanda-urges-military","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/remain-resilient-sibanda-urges-military","title":{"rendered":"Remain resilient, Sibanda urges military"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>HARARE &#8211; The Commander of Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), General Philip Valerio Sibanda has claimed that there were some detractors who wanted to manipulate the military for their personal gains and urged the military to remain resilient in maintaining peace and stability in the country.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In a New year message statement, Sibanda told the military to be prepared to play a major part in facilitating and supporting the various government programmes aimed at achieving vision 2030.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cOur officers, men and women of the ZDF were equal participants in doing all possible to maintain and promote a peaceful and stable Zimbabwe. This was despite the spirited efforts of our detractors to manipulate the military into doing \u2018their bidding\u2019 for their selfish ends,\u201d Sibanda said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He added that the military should know that the current challenges that are being encountered in the country are a passing phase.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThese challenges are not a good enough reason to lose focus and be \u2018taken in\u2019 by prophets of doom who have since independence in 1980 prophesied doom of one sort or another for our country,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sibanda added that the defence forces\u2019 focus should be on peace and stability in the country so that development can happen.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HARARE &#8211; The Commander of Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), General Philip Valerio Sibanda has claimed that there were some detractors who wanted to manipulate the military for their personal gains and urged the military to remain resilient in maintaining peace and stability in the country.
