President Mnangagwa\u2019s visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March last year continues to bear fruit, with the Middle East country delivering the first consignment of medical equipment to Harare Central Hospital yesterday.<\/p>\n
The UAE then made a commitment to assist the country\u2019s public health sector and Harare Central Hospital in particular.<\/p>\n
The equipment include dialysis machines, intensive care unit incubators, vital signs monitors, respiratory aid devices and multi-parameter monitors.<\/p>\n
The donation puts to shame attempts by detractors to vilify the President for remaining in the Middle East at a time when the country was battling against the after effects of Cyclone Idai.<\/p>\n
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo, who received the equipment at the NatPharm warehouse said it will go a long way in alleviating some of the challenges being experienced in public health institutions. He said while the initial consignment was for Harare Hospital, all the other health institutions in the country will eventually benefit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now seeing the efforts of His Excellency President Mnangagwa to seek assistance abroad bearing fruit.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has managed to secure a considerable amount of equipment for us,\u201d said Dr Moyo.<\/p>\n
He said more equipment as well as drugs were expected to continue coming into the country from the UAE. He said in addition to the equipment and drugs, UAE has also committed to assisting Government in renovating Harare Central Hospital. \u201cThere is more which is coming on a continuous basis. This is just the first batch of several other pieces of equipment which UAE has donated to Zimbabwe. At the same time, they have indicated that they will be large quantities of medicines that they will also be donating,\u201d said Dr Moyo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
