{"id":12111,"date":"2019-08-07T14:51:30","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T14:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=12111"},"modified":"2019-08-07T14:51:30","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T14:51:30","slug":"6-000-illegal-settlers-resist-eviction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/6-000-illegal-settlers-resist-eviction","title":{"rendered":"6 000 illegal settlers resist eviction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OVER 6 000 illegal settlers in Manicaland are resisting eviction despite being served with eviction notices by the government.<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed by a Lands ministry official, Tendai Chimunhu, while addressing Zanu PF provincial leadership in Mutare at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>He said government was in the process of relocating some illegal settlers, although many have resisted being moved to less productive land, among other challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have issues of illegal settlers in the province. Of the 6 451 people who we served with eviction notices, only 47 people have complied, which is quite a small number,\u201d Chimunhu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll these people have been given alternative land. Maybe they have challenges and we will be looking into it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the same gathering, former Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa applauded Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba for giving alternative land to families who were given eviction notices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OVER 6 000 illegal settlers in Manicaland are resisting eviction despite being served with eviction notices by the government.
