{"id":14480,"date":"2019-10-06T19:01:10","date_gmt":"2019-10-06T17:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=14480"},"modified":"2019-10-06T19:01:10","modified_gmt":"2019-10-06T17:01:10","slug":"caps-united-extend-gap-on-top-highlanders-and-dynamos-held","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/caps-united-extend-gap-on-top-highlanders-and-dynamos-held","title":{"rendered":"CAPS United extend gap on top, Highlanders and Dynamos held"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CAPS United consolidated their top spot on the log after beating Mushowani Stars 2-0 in a Match-day 25 encounter played at Trojan Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Machine are now on 47 points, five clear of second-placed Chicken Inn.<\/p>\n<p>Kelvin Ndebele opened the scoring on minute 25, and the hosts could have levelled the terms a few moments later but were denied by the upright.<\/p>\n<p>Mushowani hit the woodwork again in the second half before CAPS United doubled the lead with six minutes left on the clock.<\/p>\n<p>The game ended 2-1 after a late consolation for the home team right on the stroke of fulltime.<\/p>\n<p>At Rufaro Stadium, Dynamos were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Bulawayo Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>The result sees the Glamour Boys registering their fourth consecutive draw.<\/p>\n<p>They started the game on a slow pace and were frustrated by Amakhosi who drew back in the opening minutes and relied on counter-attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing big came up as the game progressed and both sides failed to create meaningful chances until the break.<\/p>\n<p>The deadlock was only broken a minute into the second half after Dembare captain Edward Sadomba who was returning from an injury tapped in Godknows Murwira\u2019s cross.<\/p>\n<p>However, the lead short-lived as substitute Farawu Matere restored parity for Chiefs ten minutes later after connecting Lucky Ndlela\u2019s corner-kick.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors followed up with some efforts from Arthur Musiyiwa and Chikosi but they both failed to bring any trouble to goalkeeper Simba Chinani.<\/p>\n<p>Dynamos forward Ngadu Mangala also had his chance but was denied by the post from an acute angle.<\/p>\n<p>The match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.<\/p>\n<p>Across the city at National Sports Stadium, Herentals scored late to squeeze a point against Highlanders.<\/p>\n<p>The game produced three penalties as the Students played out to a 1-1 draw with the Bulawayo giants who took the lead in the 17th minute.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Dube secured the advantage after converting from the spot.<\/p>\n<p>The home team had wasted a chance to go in front two minutes before after Richard Hachiro\u2019s penalty was saved by Ariel Sibanda at the other end.<\/p>\n<p>Another spot-kick was awarded to Herentals in the 88th minute and this time they scored through substitute Blessing Majarira.<\/p>\n<p>Results:<br \/>\nDynamos 1-1 Bulawayo Chiefs<br \/>\nHerentals 1-1 Highlanders<br \/>\nMushowani Stars 1-2 CAPS United<br \/>\nHwange 0-0 Black Rhinos<br \/>\nTriangle United 3-1 Harare City<br \/>\nTelOne 1-0 Manica Diamonds<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CAPS United consolidated their top spot on the log after beating Mushowani Stars 2-0 in a Match-day 25 encounter played at Trojan Stadium on Sunday.
