The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is advocating for prosecuting powers for the body to expedite corruption cases brought before it.<\/p>\n
ZACC spokesperson, Commissioner John Makamure, says there are many high profile corruption cases the anti-graft body is investigating and would want to see these completed in the earliest possible time.<\/p>\n
He says the commission is also seized with asset forfeiture for ill-gotten wealth, including some stashed outside the country. Commissioner Makamure adds that ZACC has completed crafting a five year strategic plan meant to define a clear roadmap of how it will be conducting its fight against corruption.<\/p>\n
ZACC Chairperson, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, last week said the body had recovered more than $100 million worth of properties from looters as they intensify anti-graft efforts aimed at combating the scourge.<\/p>\n
She said they had secured an increased number of criminal convictions of late and were working with different stakeholders such as academics to come up with legal structures that enhance their fight against corruption.<\/p>\n
The Zimbabwean government has declared no tolerance to corruption and of late a number of high profile corruption cases have been brought before the courts as the fight against the vice intensifies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
