ZANU PF Tsholotsho North MP, Sibangumuzi Khumalo was Sunday booed at a funeral in Mswigana village in Tsholotsho when he tried to praise President Emmerson Mnangagwa<\/a>\u2018s leadership.<\/p>\n

Addressing mourners during the burial of the late Tsholotsho Rural District Council chairman Esau Siwela\u2018s son Mehluleli, Khumalo touched a raw nerve when he used the platform to heap praise on Mnangagwa for \u201cfighting\u201d starvation in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was campaigning, I promised you a lot of development. But now there is hunger in the country. However, I can assure you that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is working hard to bring food for you,\u201d Khumalo said amid booing from the mourners.<\/p>\n

Sources who attended the funeral told\u00a0 that Khumalo abruptly cut short his speech following the embarrassing incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody expected the MP to talk about the bad roads which resulted in the death of Mehluleli. Instead of sticking to the business of the day, the MP chose to praise the President when people were mourning the death of a young person,\u201d said one villager who attended the funeral.<\/p>\n

Mehluleli died in a car accident last week after his vehicle overturned in the Esigodini area<\/p>\n

Another villager said Khumalo\u2019s booing was a clear message to politicians that they should not take advantage of sombre occasions to prop up their political careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not right for politicians to abuse people by preaching politics when it is not necessary. I hope this (booing) will serve as a lesson to other politicians who are in this habit of abusing people at funerals,\u201d said the villager.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
