{"id":17780,"date":"2020-01-06T21:15:31","date_gmt":"2020-01-06T19:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=17780"},"modified":"2020-01-06T21:15:31","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T19:15:31","slug":"former-zcdc-ceo-off-hook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/former-zcdc-ceo-off-hook","title":{"rendered":"Former ZCDC CEO off hook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE State has withdrawn before plea charges against former Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Mining Company (ZCDC) Morris Bekezela Mpofu after it failed to gather evidence that warrants his prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Mpofu was facing criminal abuse of office charges after he allegedly allowed an ex-convict diamond dealer, Robal Hussein to trade in the precious mineral with the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>Allegations against Mpofu arose on March 19 2019, after he recommended Hussein to be allowed to buy diamonds from MMCZ.<\/p>\n<p>Upon being recommended by Mpofu, Hussein bought three diamond parcels weighing 358,58 carats for US$258 224.<\/p>\n<p>He bought the diamonds on behalf of a company called Diamond Cut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE State has withdrawn before plea charges against former Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Mining Company (ZCDC) Morris Bekezela Mpofu after it failed to gather evidence that warrants his prosecution.
