{"id":19905,"date":"2020-02-24T16:47:59","date_gmt":"2020-02-24T14:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=19905"},"modified":"2020-02-24T16:47:59","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T14:47:59","slug":"mliswa-says-wadyajena-should-recuse-himself-from-committee-investigating-corruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/mliswa-says-wadyajena-should-recuse-himself-from-committee-investigating-corruption","title":{"rendered":"Mliswa Says Wadyajena Should Recuse Himself From Committee Investigating Corruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Norton legislator (independent), Temba Mliswa has said Justice Mayor Wadyajena must recuse himself from the Parliamentary committee that is investigating possible abuse of funds by the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) as he is allegedly using the platform to settle scores with GMAZ president, Tafadzwa Musarara.<\/p>\n<p>Wadyajena, who chairs the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, alleges that GMAZ received US$27 million for the importation of wheat but GMAZ is refuting the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Mliswa and MDC legislators have said that due to conflict of interest, Wadyajena should not continue to chair the committee. Posting on Twitter, Mliswa said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">This letter forms basis enough for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"><a class=\"css-4rbku5 css-18t94o4 css-901oao css-16my406 r-1n1174f r-1loqt21 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JusticeMayorW\" data-focusable=\"true\">@JusticeMayorW<\/a><\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0to recuse himself. The Committee has a number of competent members to Chair in his place. It\u2019s concerning, however, the number of assertions against him. I\u2019ve made my own with regards his conflict with Kuda Tagwirei<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"css-9pa8cd\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/ERd-NqkWAAAduAW?format=jpg&amp;name=small\" alt=\"Image\" \/><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"css-9pa8cd\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/ERd-NqiXYAI9dCX?format=jpg&amp;name=small\" alt=\"Image\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"css-9pa8cd\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/ERd-NqfWkAAzL8m?format=jpg&amp;name=small\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">In order to mitigate MPs possibly using positions in Parly Committees to settle scores or for selfish gain a rotational system should be implemented. Parly must be above corruption. Precedence has been set, the Committees aren\u2019t about individuals but the institution<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">This is the same MP who\u2019s yet to account for his source of income in purchasing trucks &amp; a Lamborghini or for the requisite duty. However we have those like\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\"><a class=\"css-4rbku5 css-18t94o4 css-901oao css-16my406 r-1n1174f r-1loqt21 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeniusKadungure\" data-focusable=\"true\">@GeniusKadungure<\/a><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"><strong>\u00a0in jail for the same.
