{"id":21983,"date":"2020-04-14T18:36:57","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T16:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=21983"},"modified":"2020-04-14T18:36:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T16:36:57","slug":"high-court-orders-health-minister-to-take-coronavirus-seriously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/high-court-orders-health-minister-to-take-coronavirus-seriously","title":{"rendered":"High Court Orders Health Minister To Take Coronavirus Seriously"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The High Court of Zimbabwe on Tuesday ordered the government to provide all medical practitioners in all public health institutions with adequate protective personal equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n<p>The ruling followed an application by the Zimbabwe Doctors for Human Rights (ZDHR) who sought the High Court to compel the government to provide adequate PPEs for health personnel to protect them from COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Posting on Twitter, Dr Norman Matara of ZDHR said that the High Court granted a consent order, ordering Health Minister Obadiah Moyo to immediately ensure the following:<\/p>\n<p>1. Provide ALL health professionals working in all public health institutions with adequate PPE<\/p>\n<p>2. Screen and test health workers for COVID-19<\/p>\n<p>3. Conduct mass screening for COVID-19, including door to door tests to detect asymptomatic individuals<\/p>\n<p>4. Screen and test all public transport drivers, security officers enforcing the lockdown and provide them with PPE<\/p>\n<p>5. Roll out nationwide training programs for all health workers on COVID-19 management protocols<\/p>\n<p>6. Establish appropriately equipped quarantine and isolation facilities in all provinces, district hospitals and designated airports and port of entry.<\/p>\n<p>7.
