Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said that leaders of the liberation movements in Zimbabwe predicted of the fight for economic freedom which they dubbed \u201ca greater war.\u201d<\/p>\n
He made the remarks in his eulogy for ZANU PF politburo member and national hero Absolom Sikhosana who died on Friday night at the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he had been admitted since Monday. Mohadi said:<\/p>\n
We were together (with Sikhosana) in this economic war. This is what we told ourselves. We were taught by our leaders that what we are fighting for whilst we were in the bush is self-determination and political independence. But there is a greater war that was coming, they told us. Our leadership told us that there was a greater war coming after that (the political independence) and that war is the economic liberation war. We have not achieved that.<\/p>\n
The Southern African country attained \u2018political\u2019 independence from the United Kingdom in 1980 but is yet to attain economic independence as it finds itself at the mercy of world economic giants.<\/p>\n
Zimbabwe, like many other developing countries, does not have full autonomy over its resources as the prices of natural resources are determined by developed countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
