{"id":23513,"date":"2020-05-25T18:04:50","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T16:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=23513"},"modified":"2020-05-25T18:04:50","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T16:04:50","slug":"analysts-predict-renewed-protests-against-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/analysts-predict-renewed-protests-against-govt","title":{"rendered":"Analysts Predict \u201cRenewed Protests\u201d Against Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Political analysts have said the general populace in Zimbabwe is likely to end up taking it to the streets, again, to register displeasure on the deteriorating state of affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The prediction is made when the coronavirus induced-lockdown that was initially imposed in March has shattered the economy, further deteriorating the living standards of the majority that is living on hand to mouth.<\/p>\n<p>Political dialogue will put an end to the political risk that the country carries and ensure that the country\u2019s leaders speak from the same script on national developmental issues, even as they may differ on strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The current Zimbabwe crisis will also likely result in renewed protests as many families struggle to make ends meet.<br \/>\nThese sentiments were echoed by Political Science lecturer Eldred Masunungure, World Politics Professor Stephen Chan and Human Rights lawyer Dewa Mavhinga who said Zimbabwe is divided, highly polarised and needs healing.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, president Mnangagwa initiated the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum but the main opposition, MDC led by Nelson Chamisa, snubbed the forum labelling it as a circus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Political analysts have said the general populace in Zimbabwe is likely to end up taking it to the streets, again, to register displeasure on the deteriorating state of affairs.
