{"id":23704,"date":"2020-05-29T22:59:07","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T20:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=23704"},"modified":"2020-05-29T22:59:07","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T20:59:07","slug":"zims-month-on-month-inflation-drops-by-nearly-9-zimstat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zims-month-on-month-inflation-drops-by-nearly-9-zimstat","title":{"rendered":"Zim\u2019s Month On Month Inflation Drops By Nearly 9% \u2013 ZIMSTAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) has released April\u2019s inflation rates which indicate that the month on month inflation rate dropped by nearly 9%.<\/p>\n<p>The agency recently apologised for not releasing the April statistics in time saying the delay was attributed to the coronavirus lockdown which made it impossible to collect data in shops since they had closed.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the release of the statistics on Twitter, the agency said:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Data processing for the April\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Consumer Price Index (CPI) ZW<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0has been completed and the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">April 2020<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Inflation<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Statistics<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0are now out. The month on month inflation rate in April was 17.64% shedding 8.95 percentage points on the March 2020 rate of 26.59%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">The year on year Inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of April as measured by the all items\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">CPI<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u00a0stood at 765.57%.
