THE tourism sector has come up with a three-phase recovery strategy for the post-COVID-19 era.
\nThe Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has confirmed meeting players in the tourism sector, with a post-COVID-19 recovery strategy high on the agenda.<\/p>\n
ZTA Spokesperson, Mr Godfrey Koti told ZBC News that the draft document contains three phases that will see normalcy and growth returning to the tourism sector once the war against COVID-19 is won.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe met with the industry of tourism and the hospitality players and those involved in the travel sector to discuss our proposed draft strategy of how we intend to recover post-COVID-19. No one can tell how things are going to be after COVI-19, but we need to work on these three phases for recovery. Phase 1 is focused on domestic tourism, phase 2 is the regional market and phase 3 is the international market,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Despite the Covid-19 setback, players in the tourism industry are not taking back seat with one of the largest hoteliers in Bulawayo on a renovation and expansion drive to increase its room capacity targeting the local market.<\/p>\n
