{"id":24660,"date":"2020-06-24T21:39:15","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T19:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=24660"},"modified":"2020-06-24T21:39:15","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T19:39:15","slug":"doctors-nurses-strike-cripples-masvingo-provincial-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/doctors-nurses-strike-cripples-masvingo-provincial-hospital","title":{"rendered":"Doctors, Nurses\u2019 Strike Cripples Masvingo Provincial Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Masvingo Provincial Hospital is reportedly no longer admitting or treating any patients after nurses and doctors went on strike late last week citing poor working conditions underlined by poor pay, shortage of medicines and lack of personal protective equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggest that patients were discharged from the hospital even those who were set to undergo surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Provincial Medical Director (PMD) Dr Amadeus Shamu, however, denied reports that the hospital has completely shut down, telling\u00a0<em>TellZim News<\/em>\u00a0that operations at the hospital had been drastically scaled back in response to the strike. He said:<\/p>\n<div class=\"MEVBAj9V\">\n<blockquote><p>They are operating with a very thin staff complement as most nurses have gone on strike.
