{"id":25066,"date":"2020-07-08T16:29:32","date_gmt":"2020-07-08T14:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=25066"},"modified":"2020-07-08T16:29:32","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T14:29:32","slug":"president-fires-health-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/president-fires-health-minister","title":{"rendered":"President fires Health Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has fired Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo for conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Moyo was recently arrested on alleged corruption charges.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said the former minister was removed from office in terms of the country`s Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease be advised that his Excellence the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has in terms of section 340, subsection (1) paragraph (F), as read together with section 104, subsection 1 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe removed Dr Obadiah Moyo from the office of Cabinet Minister with immediate effect for conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister,\u201d reads the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Moyo was arrested last month by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) over his alleged involvement in NatPharm\u2019s unprocedural contract with Drax International LLC to supply medicines and surgical sundries.<\/p>\n<p>He was released on $50 000 bail when he appeared before Harare magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi.
