{"id":26670,"date":"2020-08-19T15:55:55","date_gmt":"2020-08-19T13:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=26670"},"modified":"2020-08-19T15:55:55","modified_gmt":"2020-08-19T13:55:55","slug":"warrant-of-arrest-issued-for-former-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/warrant-of-arrest-issued-for-former-minister","title":{"rendered":"Warrant Of Arrest Issued For Former Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gweru Provincial Magistrate, Charity Maphosa, on Monday issued an arrest warrant for former Midlands Province Minister of Provincial Affairs, Jason Machaya after he absconded court on 28 July.<\/p>\n<p>Machaya\u2019s legal representative, Aleck Muchadehama, confirmed to Midlands News that indeed the court has issued a warrant of arrest against his client.<\/p>\n<p>Muchadehama, however, described the warrant as administrative as he indicated that the court was aware that Machaya was unable to attend court due to a medical operation. Said Muchadehama:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The court is aware that Machaya received the operation on August 8, and he needs at least 14 days to recover according to the doctors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Magistrate Maphosa postponed the matter to September 18 for judgement.<\/p>\n<p>The former minister is out on $1 000 bail.<\/p>\n<p>Machaya is facing criminal abuse of office charges after he allegedly allocated and disposed of State land during his time as Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Machaya in his defence is arguing that he acted in delegated authority in his capacity as Midlands Minister of State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gweru Provincial Magistrate, Charity Maphosa, on Monday issued an arrest warrant for former Midlands Province Minister of Provincial Affairs, Jason Machaya after he absconded court on 28 July.
