MDC-T organising secretary Abednico Bhebhe has criticised acting party leader Thokozani Khupe and secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora for their obsession with recalling MDC Alliance (MDC-A) MPs and councillors instead of focusing on rebuilding the party.<\/p>\n

Bhebhe asserted that the MDC-T leadership has lost direction and it is making a bad situation worse by weakening an already fragile party. He said:<\/p>\n

I have refused to be part of that circus where the top leadership is obsessed with mindlessly recalling party members without concentrating on rebuilding it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All they have done since the court ruling is to recall while no programme to develop the organisation has been considered. The recalls are damaging an already fragile party.<\/p>\n

I have always made it a point that I speak my mind in the standing committee and other platforms because it makes my job as a national organising secretary difficult.<\/p>\n

I have opposed the behaviour that has now permeated to provinces where individuals just come up with names to say so and so must be recalled so that someone is seen as wielding a lot of power hence members are obliged to follow them when we eventually go to congress for fear of being recalled.<\/p>\n

Khupe\u2019s MDC-T has used the Supreme Court ruling that stripped Nelson Chamisa of the presidency of the party in March, to recall 21 MPs and several councillors from the MDC-A for refusing to toe her line.<\/p>\n

Khupe\u2019s MDC-T lost dismally to Chamisa\u2019s MDC-A in the 2018 harmonised elections yet she has taken over her rival\u2019s party.<\/p>\n
