GOVERNMENT has pledged to ensure every citizen has access to information, especially during this Covid-19 period.<\/p>\n

Delivering her key note address at an occasion to mark this year\u2019s International Day for Universal Access to Information, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa underscored the importance of the right to information in the formulation of sustainable policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 commemorations focus on the right to information in times of crisis and on the advantages of having policy guarantees for people to access information to save lives,\u201d she said.
\nSenator Mutsvangwa also gave an update on the licensing of community radio stations which are part of the process to ensure access to information.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe revival of the community radio stations is also part of governments efforts to secure universal access to information for all citizens,\u201d she said.
\nParliamentary Portfolio Committe on Media, Information and Broadcasting Services member Honourable Regai Tsunga commended government\u2019s commitment to media reforms.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are seeing what is being done so we are hopeful of positive things that might accrue,\u201d he said Members from the local media, government officials, parliamentarians and the academia, among others, attended the event.<\/p>\n
