{"id":28461,"date":"2020-10-03T22:26:51","date_gmt":"2020-10-03T20:26:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=28461"},"modified":"2020-10-03T22:26:51","modified_gmt":"2020-10-03T20:26:51","slug":"government-releases-funds-for-harare-bulawayo-road-dualisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/government-releases-funds-for-harare-bulawayo-road-dualisation","title":{"rendered":"Government releases funds for Harare-Bulawayo Road dualisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE dualisation of the Harare-Bulawayo highway has resumed following the release of funds by government as part of the 18 billion Zimbabwe dollar Covid-19 stimulus package.<\/p>\n<p>Covid-19 has negatively affected development plans for many countries across the world including Zimbabwe but for the government the release of funds for the resumption of road works on the dualisation of the Harare-Bulawayo highway proves the Second Republic\u2019s determination to improve the country\u2019s transport network.<\/p>\n<p>Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Honourable Joel Biggie Matiza says the development shows that reliance on foreign contractors to develop the country\u2019s infrastructure is unnecessary.<br \/>\n\u201cThese roadwork are being done by the local manpower in the Department of Roads which shows that there is extra capacity to do these roadworks. Local contractors are doing the Harare Beitbridge highway so this shows you that both Government and the private companies are capable of working together to develop the entire road network,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nProject Overseer Engineer Martha Ndoro outlined their set targets before the onset of the rainfall season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to ensure that we complete at least 8 kilometres of this highway before rains start,\u201dshe said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE dualisation of the Harare-Bulawayo highway has resumed following the release of funds by government as part of the 18 billion Zimbabwe dollar Covid-19 stimulus package.
