THE Mutarazi Falls in Manicaland has recorded an increase in tourist visitors since the establishment of a skywalk facility.<\/p>\n
Not a long time ago, there were very few people who visited the majestic Mutarazi Falls which is one of the highest waterfalls in Africa.<\/p>\n
However, following the introduction of zipline and skywalk facilities, tourists say the Eastern Highlands will never be the same again.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been scary but fun, I had a great time. We had a great time. The guides made sure that we are comfortable. The guide taught us how to walk. The skywalk is a very safe activity and it needs just courage,\u201d said one tourist.<\/p>\n
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba said Mutarazi Falls is a tip of the iceberg on what Manicaland province can offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very fascinating place and one of the world wonders in Manicaland. With this investment, tourism in Manicaland has been taken to greater heights. This is the first time I am here and this speaks to the need to promote domestic tourism. Manicaland is not short of tourism destinations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu spoke on the importance of product diversification in growing the tourism sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is both terrifying and exciting. I feel that I have conquered my height phobia. It\u2019s something I would encourage Zimbabweans to do. It\u2019s very safe and funny. This speaks to the importance of product diversification. After the introduction of the zipline and skywalk, there has been a growth in arrivals. We encourage more investment of this nature. There is an appetite to diversify products in the eastern highlands. There are quite many investment opportunities in Manicaland that include golf courses, putting in place a cable car and biking trails in the mountains,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n
Mutarazi Falls is only 11.5 km from Pungwe Falls and is located in the 2,495-hectare Mutarazi National Park adjacent to the southern border of the Nyanga National Park.<\/p>\n
