Zesa Holdings has instituted a corruption probe in Bindura after being inundated with complaints from consumers.<\/p>\n
Zesa Holdings Executive Chairman, Dr Sydney Gata and senior management met stakeholders in Bindura to discuss service delivery issues.<\/p>\n
The meeting also unravelled issues of some employees that have been fingered in corruption.<\/p>\n
Dr Gata promised to restore an efficient and respectable service delivery system at the parastatal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Board, government and management committed to fighting corruption at all levels. There shall be trouble for those fingered in corruption. To the public please co-operate with us. I cannot go into details of the investigations. We have hearings for some of the workers so I was advised not to try anything like public hearings because workers will rush to the labour courts and they will be absolved of wrongdoing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Farmers, large scale miners and residents welcomed the engagement and aired their grievances.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs farmers, we planted wheat and had challenges so we are happy you are willing to address some of them,\u201d said Ray Choto.<\/p>\n
\u201cResidents are being made to buy poles, cables and so forth to get new installations only to be told at last juncture there are no transformers,\u201d said one resident.<\/p>\n
The Zesa Board Chairman who later held a private meeting with staff revealed that 18 million Zimbabwe dollars-worth of equipment was vandalised last year.<\/p>\n
ZESA holdings is also expected to provide at least 150 new vehicles to improve service delivery.<\/p>\n
