Turkey has pledged its commitment to working with the government of Zimbabwe in the provision of safe and clean water to local communities using sustainable energy.<\/p>\n
A Turkish delegation from the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation which is involved in humanitarian work in Zimbabwe is in the country to assess water and sanitation projects they are financing.<\/p>\n
This Saturday, the delegation which comprises nationalities from Turkey, France and Germany was at Sadza Growth Point in Mashonaland East to commission a solar-powered borehole which they funded.<\/p>\n
The team expressed its commitment to supplying clean and safe water to communities using sustainable energy as electricity has become a challenge in many countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith many countries having challenges with availability of electricity we are committed to using solar to provide water to communities as renewable energy is the way to go,\u201d said Oguzhan Adsiz, the Projects Supervisor.<\/p>\n
Adam Wade of the Islamic Society said; \u201cWe are going to ensure we continue to have more boreholes so that more communities continue to benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sadza community, led by area legislator Dr Sekai Nzenza, could not hide their joy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very happy as a community that we now have reliable water source as we used to have a lot of challenges,\u201d said Dr Nzenza.
\nThe Chikomba RDC CEO, Mr Bullen Chikomba said; \u201cWe are happy that we have partners who we are working with to provide water to our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The organisation also commissioned another solar-powered borehole at Mujuru village in the Bumburwi area of Marondera Rural District Council.<\/p>\n
It has funded three other solar-powered boreholes in Domboshava and Goromonzi under the same programme.<\/p>\n
