{"id":30424,"date":"2020-11-23T21:13:54","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T19:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=30424"},"modified":"2020-11-23T21:13:54","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T19:13:54","slug":"petrol-electricity-tariff-hike-buhari-govt-not-interested-in-discussing-solutions-organised-labour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/petrol-electricity-tariff-hike-buhari-govt-not-interested-in-discussing-solutions-organised-labour","title":{"rendered":"Petrol, electricity tariff hike: Buhari govt not interested in discussing solutions \u2013 Organised Labour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\">Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Organised Labour on Monday said the Nigerian Government was not interested in honest dialogue over the hike in electricity tariff and fuel price.<\/p>\n<p>The labour union said the government was not ready to find a lasting solution to the hike in the price of petrol and electricity tariff.<\/p>\n<p>The body disclosed this in a statement jointly signed by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja and Trade Union Congress, TUC, Secretary-General, Musa Lawal Ozigi.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement titled: \u201cWhy we walked out,\u201d the union said the government had shown bad faith in their agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads partly: \u201cAt our meeting yesterday (Sunday night), we had prioritised as urgent this matter before delving into the issue of palliatives. However, the Honourable Minister of Labour, Dr Chris (Ngige) did not think it was important.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll efforts to make him see reason failed. Given the tense situation and the government\u2019s manifest of insensitivity, the organised labour had no option than to walk out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the foregoing, it is clear that the government is not prepared for a sincere and honest dialogue on finding a lasting solution to the twin issues of petroleum price increase and electricity tariffs.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
