Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Harare City Council (HCC) director of Human Capital Development Cainos Chingombe has been arrested by police working with the Special Anti-corruption Unit (SACU).<\/p>\n

In a statement on Tuesday, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Chingombe was arrested in connection with criminal abuse of office and fraud allegations at HCC. Said Nyathi:<\/p>\n

The ZRP Special investigations team and SACU have arrested Harare City Council\u2019s Dr Cainos Chingombe in connection with criminal abuse of office and fraud allegations at Harare City Council. He is expected to appear in court soon.<\/p>\n

Chingombe was reinstated to his position during a full council meeting held at the council chambers on 22 November this year.<\/p>\n

He had been on suspension for the past three years on suspicion of misconduct.<\/p>\n

The reinstatement of Chingombe ironically came after Government had warned the local authority against reinstating officials with pending court cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
