Mwonzora said:<\/p>\n<p>I haven\u2019t talked to Chamisa in a while but I did send a message to him after the death of his mother that I was sorry.<\/p>\n<p>The issue between myself and Chamisa was never personal, it was on the issue of principles.<\/p>\n<p>I do not agree that we must bring G40 into MDC and that is one of the main issues \u2013 the overbearing presence of the G40.<\/p>\n<p>The G40 was said to be a group of Zanu PF politicians working on generational change by replacing the party\u2019s older officials with younger and savvy party members.<\/p>\n<p>The faction was reportedly against President Emmerson Mnangagwa taking over from the late Robert Mugabe, which escalated fights between them and the Lacoste faction.<\/p>\n<p>The main G40 functionaries are now scattered abroad following a military coup in 2017 which resulted in Mugabe\u2019s ouster and Mnangagwa\u2019s elevation to the helm of ZANU PF.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
