reported on Wednesday that South Africa\u2019s Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaled turned down a request for a delegation of Zimbabwean ministers to be deployed to South Africa. The radio station posted on its Twitter page:<\/p>\n

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says he turned down a request for delegation of Zimbabwean Ministers to be deployed to deal with massive congestion at Beitbridge border post. He insists SA is handling the matter on its side and has urged Zimbabwe to work on its economic crisis.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe\u2019s government spokesperson Nick Mangwana had earlier on Wednesday announced that there was a plan in motion to ensure both sides of the border run smoothly. He tweeted:<\/p>\n

We have been made aware of the situation at Beitbridge Border Post. Whilst the bottleneck is not on the Zimbabwean side, efforts are in motion to arrive at a solution that works for both sides of the border, that includes a possible review of the 2200 hours closure of the Border.<\/p>\n

While it is not clear what kind of help Zimbabwe offered South Africa, Harare has consistently rejected its southern neighbour\u2019s offer to help in resolving a decades-long economic crisis.<\/p>\n

During the past 12 months, former South African President Thabo Mbeki, an envoy dispatched by President Cyril Ramaphosa and an African National Congress delegation have all failed to initiate dialogue between the ruling ZANU PF party and the largest opposition party, the MDC Alliance.<\/p>\n

ZANU PF has insisted that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe and expressed anger over South Africa\u2019s \u2018uncalled for\u2019 interference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
