Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The MDC Alliance has advised its members to keep away from the MDC-T extraordinary congress set to be held on Sunday at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).<\/p>\n

In a statement, secretary-general Chalton Hwende asserted that the late founding MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai\u2019s succession is a closed chapter as Nelson Chamisa took over the reins in line with the dictates of the party\u2019s constitution. Said Hwende:<\/p>\n

All genuine MDC supporters that were in the MDC-T structures when our late president Morgan Tsvangirai passed on are advised to stay away from this Zanu PF charade at the HICC.<\/p>\n

For the record, Tsvangirai was constitutionally replaced by president Nelson Chamisa and before he passed on, he left president Chamisa in charge of MDC Alliance.<\/p>\n

Zanu PF has now booked this outfit at the HICC and has even provided it with the Zimbabwe Republic Police \u2018to maintain law and order\u2019, but in reality, they are there to ensure that their project of running an opposition party in Zimbabwe succeeds.<\/p>\n

Hwende said the party will not waste time on \u201csideshows\u201d but organise to fight for a better Zimbabwe as it is one of a handful of opposition parties fighting for genuine change. He added:<\/p>\n

The MDC Alliance remains one of the few opposition parties genuinely fighting for a people\u2019s government.<\/p>\n

We must not waste time with sideshows but remain focused on our goal of achieving a truly democratic developmental State in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

2021 is the year of people\u2019s action using our constitutionally guaranteed rights. We must organise ourselves and fight for the Zimbabwe that we want.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
