{"id":3175,"date":"2019-02-05T15:54:44","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T15:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=3175"},"modified":"2019-02-05T15:54:44","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T15:54:44","slug":"state-demands-mzembi-medical-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/state-demands-mzembi-medical-report","title":{"rendered":"State demands Mzembi medical report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE State has written to former Foreign Affairs minister Walter Mzembi\u2019s lawyer, requesting to be furnished with a detailed medical report after videos showing him to be well surfaced on social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Brian Vito told magistrate Hosea Mujaya that he had sent a letter to Mzembi\u2019s lawyer Job Sikhala, requesting a medical report apprising them of the ex-minister\u2019s medical condition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour worship, we have written a letter to Job Sikhala requesting a detailed medical report. Sikhala told me that the report will be ready by Friday. Although Sikhala said his client was unwell, reports on social media is showing his life is not in danger. There was a rumour on the social media, your worship, that he is dead, but there was a video of him saying he is well,\u201d Vito told the court.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsd-1904454736\" class=\"newsd-2nd-advert-incontent\">\n<p>\u201cThis is the video which was also reported by today\u2019s NewsDay newspaper and we need an indication from his doctors so that we can decide on how to proceed with the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vito asked the court to postpone the matter to March 26 to allow them time to prepare for trial and separation of dockets, if there was need.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p>But Mujaya objected to the long remand, saying the prosecutor must remand the matter to a nearer date.<\/p>\n<p>Mzembi is being charged together with Aaron Mushoriwa and Susanna Makombe Kuhudzayi on allegations of criminal abuse of office.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mushoriwa\u2019s lawyer Farai Mushoriwa asked the court to remove his client from remand, saying the State was punishing him by letting him come to court, knowing that there would be no trial.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsd-224951504\" class=\"newsd-2nd-advert-incontent-250\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE State has written to former Foreign Affairs minister Walter Mzembi\u2019s lawyer, requesting to be furnished with a detailed medical report after videos showing him to be well surfaced on social media platforms.
