{"id":32371,"date":"2021-01-08T20:10:27","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T18:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=32371"},"modified":"2021-01-08T18:30:39","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T16:30:39","slug":"mnangagwa-world-leaders-respond-to-violence-in-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/mnangagwa-world-leaders-respond-to-violence-in-usa","title":{"rendered":"Mnangagwa, World Leaders Respond To Violence In USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\">Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Zimbabwe\u2019s president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is among world leaders who have responded to Donald Trump-incited violence that happened Capitol Hill in the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Hill where Congress convened to validate Joe Biden\u2019s presidential win leaving US allies in shock and dismay describing the insurrection as a huge blow to democracy.<\/p>\n<p>The former president of Botswana, Ian Seretse Khama said January 6th 2021 will go down in American history as a day when one power-hungry man launched an army of thugs on the seat of democracy to protest his election defeat.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the USA which presents itself as the greatest democracy on earth, \u201cgave up that title yesterday\u201d when Donald Trump, who for four years has demonstrated blatant disregard and disrespect for the constitution, for people and democracy unleashed another attempt to stay in power.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said the \u201cshocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, said the violence \u201cmade me angry and sad,\u201d adding that she \u201cdeeply regret that since November, President Trump has not accepted that he lost\u2026 creating an atmosphere that made the events of last night possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boris Johnson said he \u201cunreservedly condemns\u201d the US president\u2019s actions. He said Trump\u2019s refusal to accept the outcome of the November election triggered the violence.<\/p>\n<p>Some leaders including French president, Emmanuel Macron and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu seem to avoid blaming Trump over the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, U.S. adversaries are seemingly scoring points. President Mnangagwa posted on Twitter saying it is ironic that America imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe over alleged disputed elections when they are also struggling in that regard. He said:<\/p>\n<p>Hua Chunying, China\u2019s Foreign Affairs ministry spokesperson on Thursday tried to draw parallels between the U.S. riot on Capitol Hill and pro-democracy unrest in Hong Kong that took place two years ago which saw large crowds storm and vandalize the legislative building in the Chinese city.<\/p>\n<p>The USA has a trickle-down effect on the world and the unprecedented incident can be topical on the geopolitics arena for a considerable period of time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
