Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Tendayi Darikwa has posted an emotional goodbye to Nottingham Forest supporters after his move to League One side Wigan Athletic was confirmed.<\/p>\n

In an address to Forest fans on his Twitter account, the 29-year-old Warriors fullback said his departure from the club is not \u201chow he imagined it ending\u201d. He wrote:<\/p>\n

From a young age, I wanted to play for this football club.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m thankful and grateful for the opportunity to do that. Not the way I imagined it ending but that\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Thank you to everyone for the love and support during my time here, especially through last season\u2019s injury.<\/p>\n

Darikwa will remain with the League One club until the end of the season on a short-term contract.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest coach Chris Hughton said the club has always been open with Darikwa. Hughton said:<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve always been very open with Tendayi.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s a really good individual, a good trainer and a good player.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s a good while \u2013 even before my time \u2013 since he\u2019s played.<\/p>\n

The right-back suffered a ruptured ACL on the eve of the last campaign and only returned at the back end of the season.<\/p>\n

He has not made an appearance for the Reds this term having seen Cyrus Christie become first-choice right-back.<\/p>\n

Darikwa, who has 13 Warriors caps, played for Zimbabwe in the back to back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria in November last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
