Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Zimbabwe\u2019s reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions FC Platinum (FCP) have been given the green light to participate in this year\u2019s the CAF Confederation Cup competition by the government.<\/p>\n

FCP have been unable to prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup play-offs as the country is under a 30-day lockdown starting on 5 January following a surge in coronavirus infections.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) advised the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) that FC Platinum were free to participate and resume training. The SRC letter read:<\/p>\n

The Sports and Recreation Commission hereby gives you notice, following your application, that: The Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation approved your application for FC Platinum to participate in the CAF Confederations Cup.<\/p>\n

SRC ordered that FCP tests all players and officials for COVID-19 and also that the club undergoes a 10-day bubble.<\/p>\n

FCP were relegated to the second-tier competition after they were booted out of the CAF Champions League by Tanzania\u2019s Simba SC.<\/p>\n

The Zvishavane-based club are set to play ASC Jaraaf of Senegal in the play-off on February 14 and 21, with FC Platinum playing at home in the first leg.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
