Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A South African judge on Thursday slapped a Zimbabwean national with two life sentences plus 33 years, which will run concurrently, for the murders of a hiker and cyclist in 2018.<\/p>\n

Cape Town High Court judge Judith Cloete convicted 32-year-old murderer Blessing Bveni for the two murders he committed in the Table Mountain National Park in the first quarter of 2018.<\/p>\n

Judge Cloete described Bveni as \u201ca cruel and cold-hearted individual who shows no remorse\u201d during the trial.<\/p>\n

Bveni, known as \u201cthe Table Mountain killer\u201d, attacked multiple hikers and cyclists in the Table Mountain National Park.<\/p>\n

Among Bveni\u2019s victims were two men, Doug Notten and Ian McPherson, who he viciously murdered.<\/p>\n

Bveni was arrested two days after cyclist McPherson\u2019s murder in March 2018, thanks in part to a SANParks master tracker Sergeant JJ Minye, who tracked Bveni\u2019s footprints in the sandy paths over the dunes.<\/p>\n

Bveni was educated to a grade 6 level in Zimbabwe before he began doing odd jobs to gain an income before he moved to South Africa illegally in search of opportunities, Judge Cloete revealed.<\/p>\n

A surviving victim of one of Bveni\u2019s attacks, Malcolm Esterhuizen, who fought off Bveni as he repeatedly attempted to stab him with a screwdriver had this to say:<\/p>\n
