{"id":340,"date":"2018-12-27T18:13:11","date_gmt":"2018-12-27T18:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=340"},"modified":"2020-02-13T12:27:57","modified_gmt":"2020-02-13T10:27:57","slug":"bankers-son-shot-dead-in-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/bankers-son-shot-dead-in-robbery","title":{"rendered":"Banker\u2019s son shot dead in robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police have launched a manhunt for armed robbers who broke into the home of Stanbic bank chief executive Joshua Tapambgwa and killed his son, David, during a robbery.<span id=\"more-3096224743999749\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the murder and armed robbery occurred in Umwinsidale, Harare, on Sunday evening, when the suspects, wielding a pistol and brick and shot David in the shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCircumstances are that three armed robbers pounced on a family of three while they were having dinner at their house,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the accused struck the victim with a brick on the head, while the other suspect produced a pistol and shot the victim on the left shoulder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The thieves then force-marched Tapambgwa into the house demanding money.<\/p>\n<p>They allegedly ransacked the house and stole $500, three Apple iPhones, two Apple MacBook laptops, a wrist watch, another cellphone, shoes and various clothes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim, who was shot, was later rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival,\u201d Charamba said.<br \/>\nPolice urged the public to be cautious when approached by armed criminals, saying where possible, they should consider their safety first before trying to either fight back or<br \/>\nresist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice are appealing for anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward and make a report at their nearest police station,\u201d Charamba said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police have launched a manhunt for armed robbers who broke into the home of Stanbic bank chief executive Joshua Tapambgwa and killed his son, David, during a robbery.
