Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora said that it will develop a media strategy to counter accusations levelled against the party that it is a ZANU PF extension.<\/p>\n

This comes after the Supreme Court in March 2020 ruled that Nelson Chamisa\u2019s election as party president was illegal and ordered an extraordinary congress to elect the late Morgan Tsvangirai\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n

Since then, Treasury has allocated MDC Alliance funds under the Political Parties Finance Act to the MDC-T in blatant violation of a court interdict.<\/p>\n

This and other issues have led some legal and political commentators to postulate that the MDC-T is an appendage of ZANU PF whose mission is to annihilate opposition politics in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

However, MDC-T spokesperson, Witness Dube, told the Daily News on Monday that the National Council has resolved to \u201cto debunk that myth\u201d. Dube said:<\/p>\n

The matter was raised in the national council which resolved that a media strategy be developed to debunk that myth. We are not an appendage of any other political party.<\/p>\n

We are our own selves. The reason behind the myth is that we have taken a position that when we speak about issues of concern, such as the abuse of human rights in the country, we will not use megaphone politics.<\/p>\n

While we raise those issues, we may not use the tone that others want to prescribe. We resolved that we take the issues to a higher level, which explains our call for national dialogue where we hope those issues will be raised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
