Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the coronavirus vaccination rollout will commence this week after the first batch of the Sinopharm vaccines arrived from China on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The consignment of the vaccine is a donation from the government of the People\u2019s Republic of China which put Zimbabwe under an obligation to buy its vaccines from the East Asian country.<\/p>\n

In a post on his social media channels on Monday, President Mnangagwa said the vaccination of the population will put the country\u2019s economy on a path to recovery. He said:<\/p>\n

The first batch of vaccines for Zimbabwe has been successfully delivered. We start vaccinating Zimbabweans this week!<\/p>\n

The faster our country is protected against this virus, the faster Zimbabwe\u2019s economy can flourish.<\/p>\n

God bless you all, god bless Zimbabwe!<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the president of the Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA), Enock Dongo told the NewsDay during an interview that the country\u2019s health workers, particularly nurses, know nothing about the vaccine.<\/p>\n

Dongo was quoted as saying nurses were not formally trained on how to administer the jab, or made aware of possible side effects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
