Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Warriors technical team plans to fly the squad to Botswana for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on the eve of the match to avoid testing players for coronavirus again in a foreign land.<\/p>\n

This follows the use of dirty tactics in African tournaments whereby some nations subject visiting teams to hostile treatment such as \u201cmanufacturing\u201d COVID-19 positive tests.<\/p>\n

Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum were left frustrated in their last CAF Champions League match against Simba SC of Tanzania, during which five key members of their squad supposedly tested positive for coronavirus in Dar es Salaam and missed the clash as a result.<\/p>\n

Warriors team manager Wellington Mupandare told State media on Tuesday that they want flawless preparations. He said:<\/p>\n

In terms of logistics, I\u2019ve started doing research and there are daily flights to Botswana via South Africa, meaning that the ideal situation is to have all international players flying into Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Because of the COVID-19 situation, I think it would be ideal for us to leave on the eve of the match and use the results from tests done here for the game and come back.<\/p>\n

Please note that this is an option that I\u2019ll present to the other guys and if they agree we will pursue it.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe is second in the qualifying Group H with five points from four games, while Botswana is in third place and the two face each other on 22 March.<\/p>\n
