Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The ZANU PF politburo on Wednesday declared the late former police Deputy Commissioner Moses Griffiths Mpofu who died last week, a national hero.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu soon after the meeting held at the party\u2019s headquarters in Harare. Said Mpofu:<\/p>\n

The Politburo has unanimously declared ZRP Deputy Commissioner (Retired) Cde Griffiths Mpofu as a national hero after considering the role he played during the liberation struggle and his position in the police force before his retirement.<\/p>\n

He was consistent through and through and was very patriotic until the time of his death.<\/p>\n

Mpofu, who retired from the police force in December 2003, died last Friday at United Bulawayo Hospitals after a long illness.<\/p>\n

In another development, Brigadier-General (Retired) Walter Epmarcus Kanhanga was appointed to the Politburo as a Committee member replacing the late national hero Air Chief Marshal (Retired) Perrance Shiri in Mashonaland Central.<\/p>\n

ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the latest development after Wednesday\u2019s Politburo meeting. He said:<\/p>\n
