Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>World Health Organisation (WHO) country representative Dr. Alex Gasasira has urged the government to let the public be aware of the issues concerning the COVID-19 vaccine that came from China, The Herald reports.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the publication, Dr Gasasira said<\/p>\n

Our organisation\u2019s recommendations to countries is to ensure that the process of introduction of Covid-19 vaccines is done in a manner that it encourages wide discussions with all stakeholders to address and ensure that everybody gets the information they need.<\/p>\n

This comes after concerns were raised that people living with HIV and other chronic conditions were not supposed to take the vaccine. Deputy Minister of Health however said it is safe to take the vaccine even if you have a chronic condition.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another public health expert Dr. Murewanhema has urged different stakeholders to educate the public about the vaccines and urge them to be vaccinated:<\/p>\n

Vaccines do not change the personality of an individual, but they are designed to protect individuals from acquiring infections that cause diseases.<\/p>\n

Vaccines have brought substantial gains to our population over the years. We have all received vaccinations against diseases like tuberculosis, measles among others and there is no way these vaccines are going to alter your DNA or change your personality<\/p>\n

The country is expected to take the delivery of 600 000 doses from China next week.<\/p>\n
