Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>While some political commentators have characterised MDC-A president Nelson Chamisa as a spineless and indecisive leader for seemingly allowing ZANU PF and MDC-T walk all over him without raising a finger, political science professor Jonathan Moyo believes the silence is strategic.<\/p>\n

In March 2020, the Supreme Court stripped Chamisa of his right to be heir to the late MDC founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who died in 2018.<\/p>\n

Since then, the MDC-A has been under siege, with the MDC-T seizing its headquarters with the help of the security services, and the party\u2019s funds under the Political Parties Finance Act given to the MDC-T, yet Chamisa has remained mostly silent.<\/p>\n

Professor Moyo, a former Cabinet Minister forced into exile in 2017, opines that Mnangagwa and the MDC-T have now played all their cards thus handing Chamisa a strategic advantage. Said Moyo:<\/p>\n

Since the dubious 31 March 2020 SC (Supreme Court) judgment on the MDC\u2019s leadership, Mnangagwa has used cronies, recalls, arrests, abductions, torture and defections to destroy the MDC-A.<\/p>\n

By design or default, Chamisa has said and done nothing. That silence is today his strategic advantage!<\/p>\n

Also, Mnangagwa has criminally used Covid-19 to cripple the MDC-A. In the process, he has played (all) his cards; as have Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chamisa has kept all his cards close to his chest. He has a Blue Ocean advantage, full of surprises, to hit \u2018dem\u2019 hard!<\/p>\n

The MDC-T has used the controversial Supreme Court ruling to recall from Parliament Chamisa\u2019s key allies and replaced them with people rejected by voters in 2018.<\/p>\n

Moreover, senior MDC officials such as secretary-general Chalton Hwende, organising and party-building secretary Amos Chibaya, co-vice president Tendai Biti, deputy national chairperson Job Sikhala, national party spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere and Harare West MP Joanna Mamombe, have been arrested on trump-up charges.<\/p>\n
