Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who resigned recently over allegations of improper romantic relationships with married subordinates, will retain his portfolio as Zanu PF\u2019s second secretary, the party has said.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists after the 349th ordinary session of the Politburo at the party\u2019s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Zanu Pf national spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said the party had received and accepted Mohadi\u2019s resignation but this will not affect his position in the ruling party. He said:<\/p>\n

The resignation of the former vice president from the government will not affect Cde Mohadi\u2019s position in the party. He will remain the second secretary and vice president of the party.<\/p>\n

In his address to the politburo, President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is also the Zanu PF First Secretary thanked Mohadi for the service he rendered while in Government. He said:<\/p>\n

We convene today following the resignation of Col (Rtd) Cde KCD Mohadi from the post of Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. His resignation from the governance architecture of the Republic was unexpected.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Government, the Party Zanu-PF and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to thank former Vice President Col (Rtd) Cde KCD Mohadi for his service to our country.<\/p>\n

I commend him for the role he played under the Second Republic in advancing our Government\u2019s national development agenda as enunciated in Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1).<\/p>\n

Mohadi announced his resignation from Government on Monday following media reports alleging that he had turned his office into a love nest with his married aides.<\/p>\n

A few days before his resignation, Mohadi had rejected the claims, insisting that his voice had been cloned and he was being targeted by his enemies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
