Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former MDC Alliance deputy treasurer-general and Senator Lilian Timveos, who recently defected to Zanu PF, claimed that she was given a special task by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.<\/p>\n

Timveos made the remarks on Saturday during a Zanu PF meeting in Zvishavane that was attended by scores of the party\u2019s supporters. She said:<\/p>\n

I saw it fit to come to Zanu PF. It doesn\u2019t make sense that the President (Mnangagwa) is from here (Zvishavane) and yet he has never won in this area.<\/p>\n

That must change in 2023. Don\u2019t be afraid that I am here for positions. My father, the President, gave me a task to do, so don\u2019t be afraid that I am here for positions. I am here to work for the party, don\u2019t worry.<\/p>\n

Timveos, however, could not disclose the nature of the task given to her, but Zanu PF sources told NewsDay that she has been tasked with revealing the opposition party\u2019s secrets and bringing more MDC-A officials to Zanu PF ahead of the 2023 elections.<\/p>\n

Timveos, a former member of the late MDC founder Morgan Tsvangirai\u2019s infamous \u201ckitchen Cabinet\u201d said Mnangagwa is the \u201cPeople\u2019s President\u201d a title prefered by MDC-A supporters for party president Nelson Chamisa. She said:<\/p>\n

I say he (Mnangagwa) is the people\u2019s President because of the way I was welcomed in Zanu PF.<\/p>\n

You all know me and I am one of the people who thought Zanu PF was bad and I was very afraid, but it only took a phone call, phone call after phone call for me to be where I am today.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t say much, but there are people I came with from the MDC Alliance.<\/p>\n
