Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said despite the multi-faceted challenges the country is facing, Zimbabwe\u2019s future is bright.<\/p>\n

He made the remarks in his Independence Day message which was also shared on social media.<\/p>\n

Mnangagwa speaks at the backdrop of worsening economic, humanitarian and political crises that have seen living standards of the common man further deteriorating. He said:<\/p>\n

Happy Independence Day Zimbabwe ??<\/p>\n

41 years ago, our great nation broke free from colonial rule. Today, our country faces many challenges. Climate change, economic battles and the fight against COVID-19 all threaten our way of life. However, I know that no matter the circumstances, the collective strength and fortitude of the Zimbabwean people can defeat any challenge that we may face.<\/p>\n

Today we come together not only to honour our past, but also to celebrate our future. We must never forget the sacrifices made so that we may be free of imperial domination. The memory of our heroes guides our country.<\/p>\n

One thing is clear \u2013 Zimbabwe\u2019s future is bright. Every day I am inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of our young people who, against enormous odds, strive to better their circumstances to support their families and communities. I have no doubt that through the genius and passion of our people, Zimbabwe shall rise once again!<\/p>\n

Let us celebrate today all things that we love about Zimbabwe. And above all else, let us come together to celebrate the Zimbabwean people.<\/p>\n

God bless you all, God bless Zimbabwe!<\/p>\n

Many Zimbabweans feel disillusioned as they had hoped that Mnangagwa would change the country\u2019s fortunes when he took over from the late Robert Mugabe in 2017.<\/p>\n

Some observers say Zimbabwe is worse with Mnangagwa than it was with Mnangagwa while some say the masses raised their hopes too high, therefore, meeting the expectations is difficult.<\/p>\n

Mnangagwa\u2019s administration has set vision 2030 which among other things aims to transform Zimbabwe into a middle-income economy.<\/p>\n

While the ruling party insists the set goals and objectives are achievable, some sceptical analysts say promises made in 2018 before the election should materialise first.<\/p>\n

MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa, in his Independence message, also claimed that Zimbabwe\u2019s future is bright, but the opposition believes that real transformation will only come with the removal of the ruling party, something that looks difficult at the moment.<\/p>\n
