He wrote:<\/p>\n<p>In Zimbabwe, the independence of our judiciary is vital to the survival of our democracy. When our courts speak, all Zimbabweans should listen.<\/p>\n<p>The Government or Zimbabwe wholeheartedly respects the independence of our judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 President of Zimbabwe (@edmnangagwa) May 18, 2021<\/p>\n<p>This comes after Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi had threatened unspecified action on the three judges who ruled against the extension of the former Chief Justice\u2019s term of office by five years.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours after the ruling was delivered on Saturday, Ziyambi accused the three High Court judges \u2013 Justices Happias Zhou, Jester Helena Charehwa and Edith Mushore of being captured by foreign forces.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ziyambi and Attorney-General Prince Machaya on Monday appealed the High Court ruling at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to President Mnangagwa\u2019s tweet, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Zimbabwe Timo Olkkonen said they welcomed the statement by the Zimbabwean leader.
