This is meant to try and ensure that the 2021 season gets underway smoothly, with the Chibuku Super Cup, this weekend.<\/p>\n

It comes after Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs have refused to give clearance letters to players whose contracts expired in December 2020.<\/p>\n

The clubs are demanding compensation from the players on the basis that they paid their full salaries for the whole without them kicking a ball.<\/p>\n

ZIFA spokesperson, Xolisani Gwesela insisted the association did not direct clubs to withhold players\u2019 clearances. He said:<\/p>\n

The Zimbabwe Football Association has received correspondence from the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe to the effect that some Premier Soccer League clubs are withholding clearances for players with expired contracts.<\/p>\n

We have been informed that some PSL clubs are allegedly demanding compensation, for services not rendered during the COVID-19-induced lockdown, when football activities had been suspended.<\/p>\n

ZIFA understands that PSL clubs are withholding these player clearances, on the basis of ZIFA having issued such a directive.<\/p>\n

This is factually not correct and we make reference to our circular to all ZIFA Affiliates dated 31 December 2020.<\/p>\n

Players like Newman Sianchali, Valentine Kadonzvo, Shadreck Nyahwa and Innocent Mucheneka had been caught up in the disputes.<\/p>\n

Sianchali is moving from CAPS United to Dynamos while Kadonzvo\u2019s intended move from Chicken Inn to Ngezi Platinum Stars has been frustrated.<\/p>\n

Bulawayo Chiefs were also demanding compensation for national team fringe player, Shadreck Nyahwa, who moved to Dynamos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
