Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>An opposition legislator Tuesday called for the resignation of the National Housing minister Daniel Garwe following the destruction of illegal settlements and business structures in the country.<\/p>\n

Southerton MP, Peter Moyo (MDC Alliance), accused Garwe of causing deaths from stress and pain among citizens after their properties were razed down.<\/p>\n

Moyo called for Garwe\u2019s resignation in the National Assembly, where he raised a matter of privilege with Speaker Jacob Mudenda. Moyo said:<\/p>\n

The destruction of houses in Zimbabwe is now a cause of concern to us. I raised the issue with Minister Garwe when he gave a ministerial statement in the House, and he promised that no houses will be demolished.<\/p>\n

However, in the past week, we have witnessed the acceleration of these demolitions. It is with a heavy heart that I raise this issue with you, Mr Speaker Sir.<\/p>\n

You can imagine the pain people are going through right now. People have borrowed to build these houses. He is a saboteur of this country.<\/p>\n

On Monday, ZANU PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu ordered stoppage of all demolitions, describing them as \u201cinhumane\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mpofu was speaking during a Press conference in Harare on Monday, which was also attended by Local Government minister July Moyo, and Garwe.<\/p>\n

However, the demolition of home industries and vending stalls has continued in Harare despite ZANU PF\u2019s declaration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
