Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>National hero Abraham Nkiwane who succumbed to prostate cancer at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) on Tuesday will be buried on Monday 12 July 2021, in Umguza.<\/p>\n

The family of the national hero agreed that the liberation stalwart will be buried at his farm in Umguza District on the outskirts of Bulawayo.<\/p>\n

Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu said Government and the party will respect Nkiwane\u2019s wish to be buried at his farm.<\/p>\n

Traditionally, national heroes are interred at the national shrine in Harare.<\/p>\n

Family spokesperson Pastor Fairchild Mhlophe, however, said they are yet to finalise the burial date. He said:<\/p>\n

_We are yet to come up with the burial date, but the burial site is his farm and as a family we agreed to honour his wish._<\/b><\/p>\n

Nkiwane is said to be the first man to smuggle weapons into Rhodesia to ignite Zimbabwe\u2019s 1970s liberation war.<\/p>\n

He is survived by his wife, Ntombizodwa and three children two sons and a daughter.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant-General Edzai Absalom Chimonyo and Michael Chakabva (\u201cCde Vhuu\u201d), burial arrangements will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n
