Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Zimbabwe recorded 102 deaths resulting from coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, the first time the country has hit three digits since the onset of the third wave.<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Health and Childcare COVID-19 Situation Report, the country recorded 102 deaths on 16 July 2021.<\/p>\n

While the seven-day average for new cases since 4 July has fallen, signalling that Zimbabwe has reached the peak of the COVID-19 third wave, deaths are expected to remain high for the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

Announcing the extension of the enhanced level 4 lockdown measures early this week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said 80% of new coronavirus infections are attributed to the Delta variant, first detected in India.<\/p>\n
