Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Munyaradzi Kereke has been granted $500 000 bail by the Supreme Court pending appeal against both conviction and a 14-year jail term for raping his niece at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

Kereke, who is a former Bikita West legislator, was serving ten years effective after he was caged by Harare magistrate Noel Mupeiwa in 2016 for raping his then 11-year-old niece.<\/p>\n

The former advisor to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) was found guilty of raping his other niece while he was acquitted on the count of indecent assault purportedly committed against the older niece.<\/p>\n

Kereke maintains that in convicting him of rape, the magistrate\u2019s court erred and misdirected itself on the several grounds that he proposed in the notice of appeal he filed before the High Court.<\/p>\n
